Scotch lovers scoff at blends, generally preferring single malts, but in Japan, blending is high art, combining both malt and grain, peated and un-peated whiskies to create truly special spirits. Each distillery has its own take on barrel-aging, some using precious Japanese oak (Mizunara) alongside more traditional barrels, and this book has space to note them all.

Inspired by the beautiful bottles used by Japan's distillers, I asked my internet friend@Soyamaxto do some similar calligraphy for the front of my whisky journal. The result is an attractive blend of Japanese and Western tastes, quite like a certain distilled beverage I know.
